September 3rd: Part 13 (9月(がつ)()()()()()()()()()3日(か)()()()()()()()()()⑬, Kugatsu Mikka (Jū San)) is the 97^th chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis

Sweating and breathing heavily, Assassin A laughs and asks why he's still alive as his body is shown in pieces up against the wall, with Chrollo holding a book in his hand as a Nen beast flies around him. At one of the checkpoints outside the Cemetery Building, Shizuku and Franklin drive past the barricade and cause the policemen to jump out of the way. One of the Mafia members gives an order over the radio, and the car suddenly explodes, with the man telling them to report it as an accident. However, the Mafia members who surrounded the flaming wreckage are quickly gunned down by Franklin, who laughs maniacally as he continues killing everyone nearby with his Double Machine Gun.

Phinks and Feitan slowly approach several Mafia members, causing them to draw their guns as they order the two to leave immediately. However, the two suddenly disappear right in front of them, with Feitan decapitating several of them and Phinks twisting the heads of the rest. Shalnark is seen hiding behind one of the Mafia members as he is riddled with bullets, and Pakunoda meets up with him. Hearing the gunfire all around the perimeter, several Mafia members run to see what's happening and find the others floating in the air like marionettes. Hiding nearby, Machi strings up two more and forces the puppets to fire upon their comrades. Hisoka is seen standing on a rooftop in the distance and enjoying the chaos.

Back in the Cemetery Building, Chrollo explains to Assassin A that the Nen beasts are called Indoor Fish and can only exist in a closed room. He adds that they are carnivores that prefer human flesh and tells him that it's the reason why he isn't feeling pain or bleeding out. After Chrollo opens the large window, the Indoor Fish suddenly vanish and cause Assassin A's bloody corpse to fall to the floor in pieces. Chrollo closes his ominous book and begins acting like an orchestra conductor, hearing the carnage below and asking Uvogin if he can hear it as well. He dedicates the requiem to him and continues to conduct as the Phantom Troupe rampages through the Mafia.

The panicked Mafia members wonder how many enemies there are and make sure not to let them near the building. An ambulance suddenly pulls up, but when the doctor and two workers approach and ask where the patient is, the Mafia members surround them with guns drawn as Bean warns them not to try anything. Inside the building, Kurapika sees several members panicking over the attack and wondering what will happen to the auction. As he realizes that the organizers will inevitably lose control of the situation, his phone suddenly rings with a call from Gon, who reveals that he and Killua were caught by the Troupe.

Kurapika angrily reprimands them and stresses how dangerous the group is. Killua asks for the phone and tells Kurapika that they now realize how much stronger the Spiders are. Both Gon and Killua ask for his help, but Kurapika tells them that it isn't a game and refuses to help in their suicide. Killua asks if he wants to know where their hideout is, but Kurapika replies that he already has sources. Killua then says that they know some of their abilities, but Kurapika again refuses and repeats that they stay away from the group. Killua points out that the Troupe is now targeting him after he killed one of their own, sharply telling him that they will do whatever it takes to get his help if he doesn't think of them as friends or equals. He gives the phone to Gon, who tells Kurapika that he saw one of them cry over his friend's death and say that he would never forgive the killer. He adds that it made him both sad and angry, telling Kurapika that they want to stop the Troupe as well. As Gon again asks for his help, Kurapika reluctantly tells him that he will call them back.
