September 2nd: Part 1 (9
Synopsis
Uvogin kicks down the door to the sleeping quarters and finds the room empty. Shalnark says that they obviously escaped and Shizuku adds that Uvogin is too loud. Shalnark says that they should head back to the hideout since they disposed of the Shadow Beasts, and Machi adds that they have the auction items as well. However, as his aura billows around him, Uvogin angrily replies that they should tell Chrollo that he won't be coming back until he evens the score with the chain user.
It's stated that Uvogin is an Enhancer whose only interests are getting stronger, training, and winning street fights. It's added that his ability, Big Bang Impact, has him focus all of his aura into his fist and creates as much destruction as a small missile, which he hopes to improve to the point where the blast is equivalent to a nuclear bomb.
Hisoka giving Kurapika the option to team up with him
Elsewhere, Hisoka gives Kurapika the option of either teaming up with him or doing things by himself. Kurapika's phone suddenly rings, and Hisoka tells him to answer it. Melody tells him that the Phantom Troupe member got away with help from his comrades who were disguised as Mafia members, guessing that they somehow intercepted Dalzollene's phone call. She adds that Dalzollene is most likely dead and says that they will move to plan B, telling Kurapika to come back.
After hanging up, Kurapika asks Hisoka if he knows where the Scarlet Eyes are, but Hisoka quickly answers that it was before he joined. He reveals that the leader revels in his spoils before selling everything and guesses that the Scarlet Eyes were also sold. He warns Kurapika that the Troupe will keep going until their leader is dead, again asking Kurapika if he wants to team up. Kurapika tells him that he will give his answer at the same time tomorrow.
The Nostrade bodyguards discussing what to do after Dalzollene's death
Having fled to the Hotel Beitacle, the other Nostrade bodyguards try to call Dalzollene, but no one answers as Dalzollene's lifeless body is seen lying on the floor. Squala tells Melody that he has to be dead, especially after they heard Uvogin moving upstairs and yelling about the chain user. After regrouping with the others, Kurapika says that they should report back to the boss, but Basho informs him that Neon is only a boss in name since she is just a child. Squala reveals that their real employer is her father, Light Nostrade, who has been giving all the orders through Dalzollene.
Kurapika and Squala wake up Neon and tell her that the auction was canceled after a group of thieves attacked it. They add that Baise, Ivlenkov, and Tocino are all dead and that Dalzollene was probably killed as well. Neon completely ignores their deaths and simply asks about the mummy she wanted, asking if it was stolen. Kurapika assures her that the items were safely moved elsewhere, and after they tell her that Dalzollene was in charge of all their communications, Neon hands them her cellphone and says that her father's number is in there. Kurapika tells Squala to call him, and Squala wonders why it should be him. Linssen speaks up and says because he has been working there the longest.
Melody says that they should decide as a group and nominates Kurapika to call since he caught the Spider and is the most qualified. The others quickly agree, and Kurapika says that he will make the call and act as the go-between only until they confirm Dalzollene's death. He says to himself that he didn't think things would work out so quickly. He returns to Neon's room and asks her if she can introduce him to her father. Neon tells her father about the robbery at the auction and Dalzollene's possible death, asking him to talk to the stand-in.
Light putting Kurapika in charge of Neon's safety
Light first asks about Dalzollene, and Kurapika confirms that he is most likely dead, which surprises Light since he was able to use Nen and could easily block multiple bullets fired at him. Kurapika reveals that the Phantom Troupe was involved, mentioning that he saw one of them stop a rocket with his bare hand. He then introduces himself and asks what they should do next. Light asks to hear what he thinks first, and Kurapika suggests that Neon leave the city immediately since they can't be completely sure of her safety anymore. Light agrees with his assessment but says that he also wants to respect his daughter's wishes. Kurapika says that her safety should be their top priority, and Light replies that he will arrive tomorrow evening and convince Neon personally if it comes to that.
Light informs Kurapika that he will be in command now and that his first order is to keep constant watch on his daughter. After hanging up, Kurapika tells Neon that her father will be arriving tomorrow and wants her to stay in her room until then. Neon is disappointed since she wanted to go to the casino, but she excitedly asks to play cards as Kurapika leaves the room. Kurapika then calls the front desk and asks for the name under which the room registered.
Elsewhere in the city, with a man lying dead on the floor, Uvogin drinks beer as Shalnark uses the computer and says that Polio & Co. Ltd., a dummy company for the Nostrade Family, owns the building where Uvogin was being held. Uvogin asks if he can find out what other buildings they own around the city, and Shalnark also checks if their men are staying at any hotels. He asks Uvogin why he still hasn't gotten a Hunter License since it allows him to buy so much information on their website. Uvogin replies that he never carries cash and just steals whatever he wants.
Uvogin following a lead to find Kurapika
Shalnark receives the information and learns that the Nostrade Family has two other buildings (and that their members are staying at three hotels). He assures Uvogin that he should be able to track down the chain user by tomorrow, and Uvogin thanks him by giving him a big kiss on the side of his head. Shalnark tells Uvogin that he should pay him back instead, adding that he will also dispose of the bodies. As Uvogin approaches the window to leave with several beer cans, Shalnark tells him to be careful. Uvogin leaps out of the window and downs another beer, telling himself that the chain user is probably the muscle of the family and that he should check the cheaper hotel first.
Back at the Hotel Beitacle, Kurapika shows Melody and Squala the Hunter Website and says that it lists all the properties which the Nostrade Family owns as well as all their employees. Squala is taken aback, and Kurapika adds that the new recruits haven't been added to the list yet. He tells them that the room was reserved in Dalzollene's name, and since he is on the payroll for one of the dummy companies, the Troupe will find the room if they compare the employee list with the hotel registries, leaving Squala in disbelief over the network that professional Hunters use. Kurapika says that they should move Neon to another room, putting it under Basho or Melody's name. He tells them all to stay in the new room, but when Melody asks him what he plans to do, Kurapika replies that he will stay behind to wait for Uvogin.
Uvogin torturing someone for information on the Nostrade Family
At the cheap hotel, Uvogin tortures a man for information as another lies dead on the floor. The man says that the chain user probably isn't a Mafia member but a bodyguard for the boss' daughter. He reveals that she collects all sorts of body parts and tells the fortunes for high-ranking clients in the Mafia. He adds that the information helped their boss, asking Uvogin to spare him since he's told him so much. As Uvogin reflects on the girl's ability to tell the future, he crushes the man's head against the wall and realizes that Chrollo was right when he said that there was no traitor among the Spiders.
