September 3rd: Part 5 (9月(がつ)()()()()()()()()()3日(か)()()()()()()()()()⑤, Kugatsu Mikka (Go)) is the 89^th chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis

Leorio tells Gon and Killua that their two targets are a man and a woman, saying that he will meet them at the location. As the two boys quickly begin to leave, Zepile wonders what they want to do about the auction, with Gon saying that they trust him and Killua telling him to get them the best price. Zepile seems unsure at first, but confidently tells them to leave it to him.

In a crowded area of the city, Nobunaga and Machi are seen sitting at a table as the two informants nervously watch them from the table beside them. Nobunaga asks if Uvogin could really be dead, and Machi says that it's probably the case and that they are there to find out. Nobunaga points out that Uvogin isn't stupid, confident that he can handle himself even if he's outclassed. Leorio calls the informants and tells them that he's the person who posted the ad. The girl wonders why he is so late to call them, and Leorio assures them that he is wiring the money now, confirming that the Phantom Troupe members are the two sitting behind her boyfriend.

After the informants receive the 15 million and immediately leave, Machi asks if Uvogin has ever been late before, and Nobunaga reminds her that he said he wouldn't come back until he settled things with the chain user. Machi then reminds him that she said probably, and Nobunaga remembers that her hunches are usually correct, declaring that they will track down the chain user and kill him. As Leorio and Gon wonder how they will capture the two Spiders, Killua points out that they stand no chance against them. Leorio raises his voice and says that they can't know until they try, but Killua tells him to stay quiet before they're noticed, saying that he didn't realize how strong they were until he saw them with his own eyes. He adds that he has improved since his father warned him about the Troupe, but tells Leorio and Gon that both of them are just as strong as Hisoka.

Leorio and Gon quickly understand Killua's point, and he adds that the two are hanging out in a public place because they want to be able to keep an eye on their surroundings. He says that they knew about the couple sitting behind them and will sense them if they move any closer, telling Leorio and Gon not to look in their direction. Killua says that he thought they were so wary because the Mafia was chasing after them, but he realizes that they are out in public because they are trying to catch prey (either the Mafia or someone else).

Nobunaga senses that they are being watched, and Machi says that the people aren't amateurs, wondering if it's the chain user. Nobunaga says that he can't be sure, but reminds her that they can act as they please according to Chrollo's orders. Machi guesses that Chrollo wants the chain user to join the Troupe, but Nobunaga reminds her that Chrollo said to find him and bring him back, asking if she remembers the unspoken rule. Machi replies that it's to use any means necessary and that he can be dead or alive. Nobunaga doesn't care about her interpretation and tells her to stop telling him what to think. Machi questions his tone and says that he is the one who is telling her what to do.

Killua, Gon, and Leorio all feel the increased tension between the two, with Leorio worried that they have been spotted. They assure him that they haven't been noticed, but Leorio points out that he can't use Zetsu like them. However, Killua notes that it isn't the place to use it and it wouldn't work on the two Spiders since they are checking people's faces and demeanors. Killua tells them to smile and act natural, but Leorio and Gon's attempt at doing so causes Killua to change his mind. Nobunaga says that they should decide whether to take the chain user dead or alive, and Machi flips a coin up in the air, with Nobunaga calling heads and Machi tails.

At the Hotel Beitacle, Kurapika and the remaining Nostrade bodyguards explain the situation to Light, who praises Kurapika's quick thinking to move Neon to a new room. He is confident that he Troupe is using the Hunter Website to track them and thanks Kurapika for keeping Neon safe. He tells them that he is sending Neon home and asks her if she is fine with it. She wonders if she even has a choice, but realizes that there's no point anymore since the items were stolen and the auction is canceled. Light assures her that there will be an auction next year and promises to make the thieves return the items she wanted.

Light then addresses Basho and Melody and tells them to take Neon back to the mansion, worried about their safety since they were seen but adding that their pictures aren't on the Hunter Website. He tells the two to put on disguises just in case and asks Neon to go to her room and pack her things. After the three leave the room, Light reveals to the others that the auction will reopen tonight at the same place and time since the Mafia doesn't want to appear weak. He adds that the Ten Dons have sworn to get the stolen items back, but one of the guards speaks up and says that the Shadow Beasts got the items before the Troupe could steal them. Light tells them that the Shadow Beasts were all killed, explaining that nine bodies were found and Owl was most likely kidnapped. He says that the Dons are aware of what Nen can do and have assumed that the auction items are in the Troupe's possession since Owl wouldn't even need to be tortured if one of the Troupe members has the power to extract information from their target.

As the four guards continue to listen in silence, Light tells them that the Dons have hired professionals to kill the Troupe. Elsewhere, Silva and Zeno Zoldyck are seen on the move as Light says that the Mafia only uses murder for intimidation and that it's better to have experts handle the actual thing. He explains that the Dons have hired a team of assassins to take care of the Troupe, and since they don't want them to receive all the credit, he asks Kurapika to join them. Back in the market square, Killua notices that the two Troupe members are on the move and asks what they should do, reminding them that they can't beat them in a fight. Leorio says that they have to find a way and Gon adamantly adds that they can't turn back. Reluctantly agreeing, Killua says that they have to do exactly as he says.
