September 4th: Part 8 (9月(がつ)()()()()()()()()()4日(か)()()()()()()()()()⑧, Kugatsu Yokka (Hachi)) is the 109^th chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis

Killua sneaks down toward the Phantom Troupe's hideout and says that the street was wide open the previous day, realizing that the buildings really appeared out of nowhere. He's confident that it involves Nen and worries about falling into a trap. He then contacts Kurapika, who is seen wearing a disguise and tells him that it has to be the work of a Conjurer. Driving the car, Leorio says that he can't believe it's possible to conjure entire buildings. Kurapika tells Killua to be wary of traps, and Killua says that it proves the Troupe is still in the area. He adds that he can now only see 20% of the area from a distance, and Kurapika points out that he is more likely to encounter them if he wanders around. Killua worries about what he will do if he hears any of their voices, admitting that his heart is pounding.

Kurapika lingers on the mention of voices and tells Killua to return to his post, adding that he will call back in five minutes. Kurapika then calls Melody and asks where she is. Melody answers that she's escorting Neon during her shopping spree, revealing that it's worse than being a bodyguard and that Basho is reaching his limit. Kurapika asks her to do something, and Melody agrees as Neon and her attendants move to another store.

At the Troupe's hideout, Shalnark confirms to Chrollo that he has told them everything that Uvogin told him about the chain user. He says that they were searching for pictures of Nostrade Family employees on the Hunter Website, with Uvogin recognizing three of them. He adds that while Uvogin left to check out their hotels, he kept doing research and learned that the members were bodyguards for Nostrade's daughter. Chrollo says that it was the night of September 1 and that he checked the website yesterday, handing a picture of Neon to Phinks, who remembers that Chrollo met her and stole her ability. Chrollo also hands out a list of bodyguards and points out that two more were added, asking Shalnark to see if the list on the website has been updated again.

Franklin is surprised that one girl would have so many guards, but Chrollo notes that her father only obtained his status through her ability. Shizuku wonders why she is in Yorknew, and Pakunoda guesses that she's there for the auction. Chrollo suddenly has a realization and calls himself stupid for not putting the pieces together to find the chain user sooner. He says that he looked up her ability and didn't think anything of the information at the time, but tells the others that she collects body parts as a hobby.

After Shalnark makes the connection to the Scarlet Eyes, Chrollo says that the chain user wanted to be hired by the Nostrade Family because he knew that the eyes would be auctioned and that the girl wanted them. He adds that the chain user wants to get revenge on the Troupe and recover his people's eyes. He asks Shalnark if there were any Scarlet Eyes, but Shalnark apologizes and says that he doesn't know since he had the auctioneer on autopilot. However, Kortopi confirms that the eyes were there and that he made copies of them. Chrollo remembers that he said his copies act as his En and asks if he can locate them. Kortopi confirms that he can if he touches the originals.

After the group searches through the auction items and Shizuku finds the eyes, Kortopi touches them and points to his right, saying that the copies are a mile and a half in that direction. As Nobunaga's aura swells around him, Kortopi says that they need to hurry since the copies will disappear in a few hours. After Phinks hands him a map, Chrollo says that the chain user is at the Hotel Beitacle. Nobunaga desperately asks Chrollo to let him go, and Chrollo says that he is coming with him, also telling him not to wander off by himself. After Nobunaga happily agrees to follow his orders, Chrollo tells Pakunoda, Machi and Shizuku to come with them as well, then asking Shalnark to switch teams with Kortopi.

At the Hotel Beitacle, Squala sits reading a magazine as the eyes are seen on the table and several dogs sit all around him. He hears a knock at the door and asks who it is. The person answers that it's room service, and Squala tells him to leave it in the hall, adding that the tip is under the door. Squala then has one of the dogs unlock the door and push the cart of food inside. As he and the dogs eat together, he says that things are getting too difficult and he needs to find another job. He adds that Eliza also wants to quit and worries that not many jobs would feed all the dogs and satisfy Eliza, who is seen still shopping with Neon.

Having moved back to a rooftop as the rain continues to fall, Killua is seen eating a few snacks when he suddenly gets a call from someone asking if it's him. Killua asks in return who they are, and Melody replies that they work with Kurapika, telling him to look to his left. As Killua sees her standing on a nearby rooftop, she tells him to hang up the phone and whisper something for her to do. Killua hangs up and whispers for her to raise her right hand, which Melody immediately does. Killua is left impressed and says that her hearing will definitely be useful as the six Troupe members are seen making their way through the rain toward the hotel.
